Why this image...

This image was taken in 2004, up in Door County, Wisconsin. A place people have visited many times and will continue to do so.

Navigating a craft on the open water is a strong metaphore for navigating life. Some days are smooth sailing. Other times, you'll find yourself in turbulant waters, possibly looking for the nearest port.

Do you pilot your craft so as not to make waves for those around you? Or do you step up when need or opportunity warrent and risk making waves. Are you navigating your own life or letting it happen to you?

People can be lighthouses, doing for individuals, what the physical structures do for boats on the water. They are a beacon in the storm. A ray of hope. A guide to safe harbor.

If you're lucky, you'll come across such a person along life's journey. Consider yourself blessed if you have the opportunity to help one shine even brighter.

We are all keepers of the light. Our own and the lights of those who walk with us or cross our path. We make our light shine brighter by helping others find and brighten theirs.
