JOURNAL ENTRY:
Went to St. John's Beacon viewing gallery. It's over 400 feet high and offered a panoramic view of Liverpool. Barb found almost all the buildings on the brochure. Then we went to Albert Dock and took the "Beatles Story" tour. It was a great exhibit with interesting information on how the group formed, their split, and what their lives we like afterward.
Then went to eat at Smuggler's Cove. The restaurant was pretty interesting. There were helments hanging from the chandelier and it looked like a place the king would have his dinner. But the food was AWFUL!! Barb had the Scouse, which was in a boiling hot pot with potatoes, carrots and meat. It was so hot, she had to take the items out of the pot to cool. The broth was just hot water. Phil had the Chicken Pasta. The chicken was all dried out and the ingredients didn't seem to go together. They will get no stars from us.
Then went to the Tate Museum. The first exhibit area had very weird abstract art that we both did NOT like. The second exhibit was pretty cool. It was optical illusion art. The painted floor was Barb's favorite. It looked like the floor was uneven and you had to watch where you stepped.
Then we walked to Mathew Street in the Cavern Quarter. This was where the Cavern was that the Beatles played at. You could see the Cavern entrance, but it has been torn down. There were also a few Beatles statues along the way.
Then we found a Five Guys and had to have fries!! Then walked in St. John's Gardens in the St. George's Quarter. It was after dark and they had lights in the trees, which looked pretty cool. Also walked by St. George's Hall which had some pretty cool lions out front.
